Canada re-launches Federal Skilled Worker Program
Canada has once again introduced a new program to welcome in additional workers. Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) have started accepting applications to the new and improved Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP).
Examples of jobs welcomed as part of the program include Engineering Managers, Civil Engineers, Financial Analysts, Mechanical Engineers, Land Surveyors and Physiotherapists. A full list can be found on the CIC website here .
Research by the CIC showed that language proficiency and youth are the two most important factors in the success for candidates moving to Canada for work. The FSWP has recently been improved through extensive research, stakeholder and public consultations and studying successful similar programs in other countries. The main aim of improvements is to improve economic outcomes by selecting immigrants moving to Canada who will be able to integrate as quickly and as seamlessly as possible.
Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney recently said “The government’s number one priority remains jobs, economic growth and long-term prosperity. Our changes ensure not only that Canada can select the immigrants most needed by our economy, but that they are best positioned for success.”
