Cadogan Tate supports The Animal Ball 2016
Cadogan Tate is pleased to announce that it is a proud supporter of The Animal Ball 2016, hosted by Elephant Family, our chosen conservation charity since 2009.
The Animal Ball is set to be Europe’s biggest environmental fundraiser for wildlife across the planet, and is backed by Elephant Family’s Royal Patrons TRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall.
The event is a fundraising spectacular created to address the growing problem of human-animal conflict with a view to securing a future for endangered species including the African and Asian elephants, lions and gorillas. It’s also designed to be London’s most inspired and creative tribute to the animal kingdom, and will prove a visual feast for the 800-strong guest list.
The Animal Ball 2016
The exclusive fundraiser takes place on Tuesday 22nd November in Central London, and will be following a completely unique format for modern events. The evening begins with a series of formal pre-ball dinner parties held at 40 notable London locations, each with their own animal-inspired theme. Guests at each venue, comprising restaurants, private member clubs and distinguished private homes, will be supplied with a couture animal mask based on the individual theme to wear for the duration of the evening, as well as granting entry to the main ball.
After dinner, each of the separate dinner parties will converge at Victoria House on Bloomsbury Square, where music, dancing and entertainment will take the party into the night.
The 800 animal masks have been designed by some of the world’s biggest fashion houses, including Alice Temperley, Chloe, Jimmy Choo, Burberry and Sabine – a full list can be viewed on The Animal Ball’s website. Earlier in the month, Elephant Family collaborated with the V&A Museum to display an exclusive collection of these couture pieces in the aptly named Conservation Couture exhibition. The masks were available to view in the Cupola, the highest point in the museum and an area of the V&A not usually open to the public.
Raising valuable funds
Elephant Family aims to protect the lives of Asian Elephants and create a future where these majestic animals can live in harmony with local people. The survival of the Asian elephant has come under greater threat as its numbers have been decimated due to human population increase and the widespread deforestation of Asia’s jungles that has led to a greater encroachment into the Elephants migratory routes Elephant Family has so far funded over 150 field projects and is active in six key locations, helping to secure migratory routes and de-escalate human-elephant conflict, making a huge difference to the welfare and conservation of native elephants and local population.
Other beneficiaries of The Animal Ball are: The Aspinall Foundation, an internationally renowned conservation charity who are world leaders in breeding, protection and reintroduction of endangered animals; Lion Guardians, a conservation organisation dedicated to finding long-term solutions for people and lions to coexist across Kenya and Tanzania; and Space for Giants, an international conservation charity dedicated to the conservation and management of African elephants and their habitats.
Over the last 7 years, Cadogan Tate has had the privilege of supporting Elephant Family in their invaluable work by providing the logistics behind their large-scale fundraising events including Elephant Parade in 2010 and The Big Egg Hunt NYC in 2014. A world without the Asian elephant would surely be a sadder and lonelier place for us all; long may their work continue until the future of the Asian elephant is secured once and for all.
